PUSH the LIMITS - 7 Summits
Have you ever tried to break your routine? Have you ever pushed
yourself to go the extra mile? It is not easy, I know. But it
sure feels great when you do something extraordinary.
I am a graduate from the University of Manitoba and have always been
competitive in various sports. Years ago, I decided to climb in
Peru. With some training and minimal knowledge of
mountaineering this journey was a success. On February
14, 2009, I summited Mount Aconcagua and on that day I knew there
were no limits. My Push the Limits – 7 Summits journey had begun.
Mountaineering, is a combination of trekking, climbing and camping
combined with inclement weather and high altitude conditions. At
every corner and with every step the unknown danger lurks, and this
is why training is of paramount importance to the success of each
expedition. I must be
able to deal with internal and external factors that the mountain
will present. Climbing occurs in an environment indifferent to
human needs, which not everyone is willing to pay the price for its
many rewards.
The challenge of mountaineering offers me a chance to learn about
myself and escape the parameters of today’s modern society.
Mountains offer a place of richness and comradeship that can be
found only in a few places on earth.
The Seven Summits, seven magical mountains that have been climbed by
a select few are the highest mountain peaks on each of the seven
continents. Each mountain has its own unique climbing
characteristics where one encounters and confronts different
terrains and tasks. Join me at the
summit
to learn more.
